President of the State of Palestine
Office claimed as the head of state of Palestine and in practice fused with the presidency of the Palestinian Authority. The position carries diplomatic and symbolic importance in the international recognition campaign, but its domestic legitimacy has been undermined by the absence of presidential elections since 2005 and by the fragmentation of Palestinian governance between the West Bank and Gaza.
