Leon Trotsky
Russian revolutionary and Marxist theorist (1879–1940) who co-led the Bolshevik Revolution alongside Lenin and founded the Red Army. After Lenin's death he lost the struggle for leadership to Stalin, was expelled from the Soviet Union, and was assassinated by a Stalinist agent in Mexico City.
