Syrian Democratic Forces
Kurdish-led military coalition that administers the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (Rojava). The SDF is dominated by the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its armed wing, the YPG. It controls significant territory in northeastern Syria and has a tense relationship with the HTS-led Damascus government. The United States partnered with the SDF against the Islamic State from 2015 onward.
