The League of Empire Loyalists (LEL) was a British far-right pressure group founded in 1954 by A.K. Chesterton, a former member of Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists. It opposed decolonisation, Commonwealth immigration, and what it described as the betrayal of the British Empire. The LEL never contested elections as a formal party and remained a small but vocal fringe organisation. In 1967 it dissolved and merged with the British National Party and the Racial Preservation Society to form the National Front, making it a direct predecessor of modern British far-right politics.
