New Social Contract
New Social Contract was created by Pieter Omtzigt in 2023 and rose instantly because it crystallized a broad Dutch demand for institutional repair after years of administrative scandal and distrust. The party's identity is less ideological in the classic left-right sense than constitutional and moral: rule of law, a more careful state, fiscal seriousness, protection of ordinary citizens from bureaucratic abuse, and a critique of the hyper-managerial style associated with late-Rutte governance. Its sudden success made it one of the clearest examples of a protest against state failure being converted into an electoral party almost overnight.
